Chrysanthemums are the flowers of fall. However all the ‘mums that are sold in big box stores are usually double ‘mums’, meaning that they were bred to have more than one layer of petals. However the old fashioned ‘mums’ are just as beautiful and come in their own variety of breathtaking colors.
This next picture is a Japanese Anemone, a fall perennial. It grows tall and does well around the edges of a garden.
And of course if you’ve driven down 400 in the past few weeks, its impossible to have missed the mix of cosmos in the median. These brilliant flowers are native to the Americas and would look amazing in your yard.
