When you live by the lake, you want to enjoy every step of the journey to the water. For a homeowner in Gainesville, GA, the goal was clear: create a stone path down to Lake Lanier that keeps their feet dry and makes the walk feel like part of the experience.
We knew just what to do—a curvy stone path that blends right into the natural landscape.
Why a Curvy Stone Path?
Straight paths might be practical, but they’re not nearly as fun. A curving path feels more like a walk in the woods, following the natural grade of the land. It’s interesting, inviting, and just plain prettier.

Safety First, Always
In spots where the slope got a little too steep, we added stone steps. Not only do they make the path safer, but they also break it up nicely. Long, continuous stone paths can get slippery when they mildew, so adding steps is a win-win for safety and style.

Let There Be Light
To make the path usable even after sunset, lighting was added along the way. It’s subtle but does the job—and it adds a nice vibe for evening walks to the lake.

The Perfect Stone Path
For this project, we used Tennessee crab orchard stone in soft pinks and tans. It’s one of our favorite materials because it’s light, colorful, and looks incredible against the greenery around Lake Lanier.
Now, the homeowner has a path they love—whether they’re heading to the lake for a swim or just taking a peaceful stroll. It’s functional, beautiful, and designed to last.
This was such a fun project for us, just like so many of our other stone paths and projects. Curious to see more? Take a look at our portfolio here.
